DEVON SCHOOL OF SHIATSU - PRACTITIONER REGISTER

Graduates Register
There follows a list of graduates of the Devon School of Shiatsu. They have all been awarded a Diploma in Shiatsu (Dip Shi) for having completed our three year part-time professional training courses. Many have also completed the Shiatsu Society assessment (this is the professional body regulating the practice of Shiatsu in Britain) and have become a Member of the Register of the Shiatsu Society (MRSS). Our graduates are mainly to be found in the south west of England, Devon and Cornwall.

Choosing a Shiatsu Practitioner
When choosing a practitioner we suggest that you talk with individual practitioners to find one that feels right for you. Although all are qualified, their individual approaches or areas of expertise will differ, and one may suit you better than another. Ask all the questions you want, including approach, fees, likely number of treatments, etc. This register is not an endorsement of any one individual graduate, but a means for the public to locate where our graduates are practising.

A Shiatsu session generally lasts an hour or a little more. A practitioner will generally take details of a client's health, and then give a treatment, with the client wearing comfortable, loose fitting clothing, preferably made of natural fibres. Depending on the reason for the visit, one or a series of treatments may be recommended. Some of the main reasons people seek out Shiatsu are;

General relaxation, stress relief, removal of tension, and revitalisation. People often feel very much better in themselves straight after a Shiatsu treatment.
Muscular and skeletal problems such as back pain, sciatica, frozen shoulder, neck and shoulder pain and stiffness, headaches and migraines, tennis elbow and knee pains.
Internal problems like breathing difficulties, digestive disorders, menstrual pains and irregularities in the menstrual cycle.
Alleviation of pain and general improvement in energy levels, sleep and internal wellbeing in chronic conditions like arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome and AIDS.
Emotional problems which seem rooted in the body are often helped by Shiatsu. The meridians used in Shiatsu are linked to emotional states as well as physical functions and Shiatsu can help the release of emotions trapped in the body.
Many clients keep coming back at regular intervals for a "health top-up", keeping them feeling good and in optimum health!
